United Way gives individuals and families the opportunity to reach their potential and improve their quality of life. Whether we fund programs that teach conflict-resolution skills to a high-risk family, enable a senior to live independently or help a high school student stay in school, United Way’s impact is local, tangible and meaningful.
We rely on a diverse group to achieve positive outcomes in our community.
- A volunteer Board of Directors determines United Way's direction, advises employees and takes responsibility for financial decisions and performance. The Board members are accountable for achieving United Way of Calgary and Area's objectives.
- Our Campaign Cabinet helps develop our campaign plans and strategies, plus they play a pivotal role in mobilizing the thousands of Calgarians who contribute to our success each year.
- Through the power of working together with thousands of volunteers from workplace campaigns, agencies, donors and our Campaign Cabinet and Board of Directors, we are able to achieve greater awareness and positive change in addressing and overcoming social issues.
- Our staff bring experience, talent and commitment to our organization and our community. Staff members carry out the vision of our Board and Campaign Cabinet and are the stewards of the funds we receive from donors for investments in the community.
- Through your donations, we work with several agencies in our community. Plus we invest in priority issues and initiatives in the community to develop long-term solutions in:
- Supporting people living in vulnerable situations
- Improving lives for economically challenged families and reducing poverty
- Ensuring the success of children and youth
- Sustained Poverty Reduction
- Aboriginal Youth and Education Strategy
- The Calgary Children's Initiative
- 211 Calgary.
Our area community partnerships in High River, Okotoks, Cochrane and Strathmore, ensure people in towns and communities around Calgary have access to the support they need.
