2005 Campaign

2005 highlights:

Here are just a few of the ways in which the generosity, caring and participation of the people of Calgary and area were counted during the 2005 campaign:

  • Over 82,000 individuals participated in campaign projects and initiatives.
  • 660 Ambassadors of the Way speeches delivered to an estimated audience of 20,000
  • 3,300 Calgarians marched in the streets at the 2005 Campaign Kick Off.
  • 7,600 volunteers completed 660 United Way Day of CaringTM projects.

Thanks to the outstanding generosity displayed in 2005, United Way of Calgary and Area was able to continue supporting agency programs and community initiatives that help meet short-term needs and that also bring about long-term positive change in our city.

New projects focused on our city's youth and supported by United Way include:

  • Agency programs that help ensure at-risk youth are engaged in positive activities during the critical hours that fall before and after school.
  • Collaborating with community partners to reduce youth homelessness within Calgary and Area by helping individuals before they hit city streets.
  • Helping immigrant youth to succeed in high-school.

The collaborative efforts of human service agencies, corporate Calgary, government, community members and United Way is key to developing solutions to the social issues in our community. By working together, we believe we can truly bring about positive change for those living in vulnerable situations in our city, both now and for future generations.

Every dollar given, every hour volunteered and every message shared works together to improve lives and strengthen communities. Every effort counts.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Calgary a truly great place for everyone.
