Bruce has over 38 years of experience in the energy sector with 19 years in executive positions in both large and small energy companies.  Bruce recently retired as Vice President of Business Development at RMP Energy Inc..  Bruce served in similar roles at Rider Resources, Meota Resources and Poco Petroleums working with the same group of partners for the last 29 years.  His  oilpatch career started in 1980 as a Landman at Dome Petroleums and he is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL).

Bruce holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math and a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree, 1978, from Queen’s University.

Bruce is married to Dr. Janice Heard, has 3 daughters, two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Bruce and his wife Janice were recognized by the Calgary Branch of the Queen’s University Alumni Association with the Johnson Award in 2012.  Bruce was also recognized by the CAPL as its Distinguished Citizen in 2012.  

Bruce sits on the Queen’s Campaign Cabinet and was co-chair of the Financial Services division for the 2010-2013 Calgary United Way Campaigns. 

He joined the United Way of Calgary & Area's Board of Directors in 2014 and is currently Past Board Chair and is the Board Liaison to the UWCA Indigenous Advisory Committee.   

Bruce is also Chair of the UWCA Board Governance and Development and Strategic Planning Committees and a member of Community Impact and Tomorrow Fund Committees.
