Dan Allen profile

Dan Allen recently retired from ATB Financial where he had been Vice President of Business & Agriculture for the past 8 years.   He had led a team of 300 employees committed to meeting the financial needs of small to medium size businesses and farming enterprises throughout Alberta.  Prior to joining ATB in 2010, Dan spent 31 years with CIBC in various leadership roles, including Retail Banking, Private Banking, Small Business Banking, and numerous Regional Office roles.

Dan was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University and then moved to Calgary in 1979 to pursue a career in Banking.  An Albertan for 39 years, Dan has lived in Calgary, Drumheller, Edmonton and St. Albert.

Dan first became involved with United Way of Calgary & Area in 1991, when he was seconded for 10 months to support the Campaign that year.  Since that time, Dan has been involved with United Way off and on in various volunteer capacities until 2012, when he joined the Campaign Cabinet as the Co-chair of the General Business Division.  

Dan spent 2 years on the Campaign Cabinet and in 2015, was invited to join the United Way of Calgary & Area Board of Directors.  Dan is currently the Chair of the Board Investment Committee and a member of the Board Community Impact, Finance & Audit and Governance & Development Committees. 

In 2016, Dan was invited to join the Financial Services Advisory Committee at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary. 

Away from the office, Dan enjoys travelling, reading, and playing golf.  But most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Gloria and seeing all of the latest blockbuster movies with his three daughters.
