September 2013 All In for Youth Quarterly Report - page 4

RESOURCES ARE IN PLACE
• The first 54 volunteer tutors have been recruited, trained, and are ready to be matched up with
youth this fall
• 11 mentors and 19 Career Connectors are poised to provide positive adult connections through
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary
• 4 Success Coaches have been hired through Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary and are working directly
with students in 6 Calgary high schools
• Over $5 million (of the total $10 million required) has been raised from corporations and individuals to
support the initiative
WHAT BEGAN IN TWO SCHOOLS HAS GROWN TO NINE
Nine of Calgary’s 40 high schools are “All In” partners this fall:
• Bishop McNally High School
• Bishop O’Byrne High School
• Central Memorial High School
• Father Lacombe High School
• Forest Lawn High School
• James Fowler High School
• Lord Beaverbrook High School
• St. Anne Academic Centre
• Chinook Learning Centre, including Encore
The learnings from pilots are now being adapted to the needs of schools for the upcoming school year
For example, Father Lacombe High School is embedding the newly created “All In” Career Connector
curriculum in their Teacher Advisor program. Teacher Advisors meet daily with their students to support
them in reaching their academic, social and career goals.
