3.2MODELINGTHECURRENTREALITYOFTHE SYSTEM
Employing a ‘rapid cycleprototyping’ approach and using Lego as away to ‘thinkwithour hands’ to visualize current
reality, TB5participants developed amodel of the current reality of theECD system (image 6). Thiswas refined through
several rounds of coaching feedback from theoverall team. Suggested leveragepoints – interventionpoints that would
make themost difference in the transformationof the system –were also identified.
A short video andwritten story capturing the team’s descriptionof the current reality of theECD systemwill be
available as a supplement to this executive summary shortly.

Using the skills and tools described above, ThriveBy 5participantsworked throughout the FoundationWorkshop to
surface their collectiveunderstandingof the current reality of theECD system inCalgary.
