Collaborative Social Innovation in Action
What is Collaborative Social Innovation?
United Way of Calgary and Area defines Social Innovation as “new ideas that work to resolve social problems for the benefit of society rather than for individuals alone.”
Why is United Way of Calgary and Area taking on this initiative?
United Way of Calgary and Area has a strong track record in reaching ambitious campaign targets and community investment granting. While United Way is committed to supporting and funding the important work and social innovation of agencies in our community, that alone will not result in solving social problems or catalyzing system change at the scale of the sector or community.
To address these problems and create large scale change, United Way is hosting, investing and participating in a two-year collaborative process known as the Leading Boldly Network. The purpose of the Leading Boldly Network is to create a vibrant multi-sector network that will catalyze and sustain collaborative social innovation in Calgary.
Leading Boldly Network - A Network for Social Change
The Leading Boldly Network is a network for social change focused on:
- Building new capacity in Calgary for Collaborative Social Innovation (CSI), and
- Making progress on complex problems that are beyond the mandate of any individual organization.
The Leading Boldly Network
The Leading Boldly Network was formed by convening nine executive directors from a diverse group of United Way funded human-service and nonprofit organizations. These individuals make up the Network’s first steering committee and are collectively working in three interrelated spheres.
