WHAT WE DO

United Way of Calgary and Area has been working in the communities North of McKnight for three years. These communities are an exciting and important place to be because of the strong community pride, readiness of the community to take action and the incredible diversity in age, cultures and faith.

In 2010, United Way partnered with the North of McKnight Residents Committee  to find out what residents thought about the communities where they live. From February to August of 2010, more than 1,000 residents of the neighbourhoods North of McKnight were given the opportunity to talk about the quality of life in their community, identify strengths and assets as well as issues and concerns, and discuss possible actions.

This report is a summary of the many conversations that happened over the past several months. It is a mosaic of the strengths and challenges that the neighbourhoods have from the point of view of those who live, learn, work or worship in the neighbourhoods. This report is also an invitation for action and cooperation.
