WHAT WE DO
WHAT WE DO

The Cochrane Partnership’s funding focus is on assisting families to live free from abuse; giving children the skills they need to build the futures they want; and helping people obtain the resources needed to live with dignity and satisfaction.
mPower in school mentoring program links high needs students with volunteer mentors in the community. The program made a big impact on one particular student who is a cancer survivor living with his single mom and siblings. The volunteer-mentor match began in school and soon moved into the community so the two could explore the activities they were both interested in. Since then, the youth and his mentor have gone skiing, to hockey games and to the movies. They have also enjoyed other outdoor activities such as climbing and biking. The mentor now attends extra-curricular functions to support the youth. Their relationship has flourished and the youth’s younger siblings are now requesting mentors for themselves. This particular student and mentor are an animated and vibrant match who share excitement for mPower and other community mentoring programs in Cochrane.
