Mission

Our community transformed by the next generation of mobilized and inspired citizens.

United Way of Calgary and Area has supported the engagement of individuals in their twenties and thirties through the 2335 initiative since 2003. This successful initiative has recently been rebranded as BeCause and continues to engage Calgary’s future leaders and young professionals. Through United Way’s annual campaign and events such as Calgary Timeraiser and the Urban Exposure Project, BeCause enables the next generation of Calgarians to better understand social issues and actively create positive change in our community through giving, volunteering and participating.

  • Calgary has the youngest population in Canada, and is a unique, entrepreneurial city where we can really leverage the potential of young philanthropists.
  • Utilizing United Way’s resources, expertise, and work in the community we model and inspire community engagement in new and creative ways.
  • We educate Calgarians to understand and care about social issues, BeCause the more we know, the less we will tolerate.
  • There are three ways you can get involved: giving, volunteering and participating.
