Established in 1996, United Way of Calgary and Area’s Tomorrow Fund gives Calgarians a unique opportunity to make their imprint on the future of our city. Donations to The Tomorrow Fund are combined and invested to maximize returns while preserving the capital. Returns generated by The Tomorrow Fund go back into our community through United Way’s initiatives.

The Tomorrow Fund is here to stay

The Tomorrow Fund is providing a stable and growing source of income for United Way's work in the community. Since its launch in 1996, the fund's capital value has grown to over $20 million!

Every dollar of your gift stays invested in the Tomorrow Fund. Interest earned provides an ongoing source of revenue for United Way's work in the community. Mawer Investment Management Limited manages the fund, ensuring that your gift achieves maximum benefits for our community for years to come.

Creating opportunities

The Tomorrow Fund is earmarked to support the work of the Poverty Reduction Coalition (PRC), a community collaborative initiated and supported by United Way of Calgary and Area. The Coalition is dedicated to reducing the incidence of poverty in Calgary by focusing on both immediate and long-term positive change.

Gifts to The Tomorrow Fund

If you’d like to support The Tomorrow Fund, we can provide you and your advisors with confidential information on the many ways to give. Whether giving today or planning for the future, we can help you plan a gift that meets your charitable, financial and tax goals.

You can give to The Tomorrow Fund in a number of ways:

• Cash or cheque
• Bequest - in your will you leave a portion (or all) of your estate to United Way
• Gift of Securities  - a highly beneficial way of giving to United Way that can result in significant tax benefits
• Life Insurance Policies - you can give an existing life insurance policy, name United Way as a beneficiary in an existing policy, or purchase a new policy in United Way’s name
• RRSPs - if a portion or the entire amount of an RRSP is donated upon death, most or all taxes owing can be eliminated through careful planning.
• Real Estate - a gift of property can serve United Way in many ways
• Charitable Remainder Trust - this involves transferring property into a trust, all or part of which is donated to United Way following your death
• Residual Interest Gift - a contract where United Way receives future ownership of a valuable asset (generally real estate or art) but you maintain use of it for life
• Limited Partnership Interests - you can donate to United Way all or part of your interests in a limited partnership
• Stock Options - a way for companies to support the community without reducing cash flow.
