A supportive adult is everything.
When Sama was just 15 years old, she was removed from her abusive mother and entered foster care. Feeling depressed and confused, Sama reached out to United Way partner agencies across the city, accessed programs and found her voice.
Sama is Calgary.
Today, Sama studies Criminal Justice and Psychology at Mount Royal University, working to build her own youth support group and save children just like her.
Calgary is a community of people. Meet a few of the 177,000 people like Sama who were helped in 2015.
