Michael Dyer, VP Employee & Student Services at SAIT, is now sporting a snazzy mohawk as a result of a pre-campaign fundraiser that was held at SAIT Polythechnic a few weeks ago. Dyer grew his hair long as a part of a challenge he was having with his friend, but when an opportunity arose to raise funds for United Way, the stakes changed.
Dyer offered his staff a chance of a lifetime - he would cut his hair and depending on how much money was raised, his staff got to choose the style. He even went so far as promising to sport a mohawk for a week if his staff managed to raise $6,000 – and a mohawk his employees assured him! In fact, his staff were so determined, they were able to raise the full $6,000 before the event, so Dyer upped the challenged. He promised to keep the haircut for another day for every $100 raised.
The results: Dyer’s staff managed to raise close to $9,000! This means not only does Dyer have to sport his new look for 37 days, he has to wear it to a formal SAIT gala later this month!
