Help line expands for High River residents

Residents of High River now have a dedicated help line that will connect them to assistance as they recover from the flood.

By calling 1-855-266-1605, High River residents will be connected to the 211 service. This line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It connects you to a full range of community, health, government and social services in Alberta.

The Town of High River contacted 211 asking for support because of the recent high call volume to their Human Impact Services Group. Not only were more calls coming in because of the flood, but calls were also becoming more complex and requiring more support.

Staff at 211 are working closely with the High River Emergency Operations Centre to ensure information is current and up to date. In situations where the answer is not clear, 211 staff will work to find out the correct information and follow up with the caller to ensure that they receive the information they need.

Please note that while dialing 2-1-1 works in Calgary, callers from High River and elsewhere need to call this number: 1-855-266-1605.

211 is a joint initiative of United Way of Calgary and Area, Distress Centre Calgary and The City of Calgary.
