Superheroes pull together to raise over $100,000!

The everyday heroes who donated in support of friends, family and co-workers pulling in today's Plane Pull raised an amazing $100,000!! That's more than three times what was raised at last year's event!

"Not only did Calgarians come together and repeat last year's success — they exceeded it by far," said United Way's President Lucy Miller. "When we all pull together for our city, we become superheroes."

Thirty-three teams of 15 people competed in pulling a UPS Airbus A300 aircraft 50 feet across the tarmac. The winning team, the Van Houtte Grinders, accomplished the feat in 20.86 seconds. Each team raised money before the event and additional donations today pushed the total over $100,000.

A huge thank you to UPS for hosting the event again this year. And thanks to generous sponsors Quadrus Development and AltaLink none of the money raised was used on the event itself. All proceeds go to the work of United Way.
