After decades of community involvement, United Way of Calgary and Area Board Chair Heather Culbert has won the 2013 Generosity of Spirit award for Outstanding Individual Philanthropist.
Culbert began her career in the oil and gas sector, working for Suncor and other companies before launching her own management consulting practice. She left consulting in 1996 to join Enerplus Resources Fund as Senior Vice President of Corporate Services. In 2006, Culbert retired from Enerplus and now directs her time and energy to the not-for-profit sector.
In addition to her involvement with United Way, Culbert is on the Alberta Cancer Foundation Board of Trustees and was Chair of the SAIT Promising Futures Campaign. She has and continues to be involved with many other philanthropic and charitable efforts throughout the city.
“Heather is an example of how one person can make a huge difference in our city,” says United Way President and CEO Lucy Miller.
