Thanks to the outstanding support of our 2013 annual campaign, we have raised $55.7M for investment in our community.
“In a year when so much was lost, so many have given,” says Lucy Miller, President of United Way of Calgary and Area. “Thank you Calgary – you are our superheroes every day!”
This $55.7M campaign exceeds the previous record set in 2012 by $500,000. On top of that, Calgarians gave an additional $5M in 2013:
- $1M toward United Way’s emergency flood fund, which has funded 79 agency requests in the Calgary area, including in High River and Okotoks
- $4M toward “All In" for Youth, a United Way-led initiative to cut the number of high school dropouts by 50%
Rick Hanson and Dawn Farrell, United Way’s volunteer 2013 Campaign Co-Chairs, also thank Calgary’s everyday superheroes for stepping up in a year when the city needed their support more than ever.
“Our city didn’t back down from the challenge,” says Calgary Police Chief Rick Hanson. “Calgarians saw the need and met it head-on. That’s what Calgarians do. Thanks to their generous support, we have a strong social safety net in place for all.”
Thank you to everyone who supported our 2013 campaign! You are our city’s superheroes!
