Calgary couple become first Canadians to donate $10 million to United Way

Bill and Sharon Siebens are the first Canadians to join United Way's Ten Million Dollar RoundtableProminent Alberta business and community leaders Bill and Sharon Siebens were honoured for their lifetime of philanthropy at United Way Worldwide Leadership Council’s Roundtable on Philanthropy on October 2 in Banff.

As long-time supporters of their local United Way, Bill and Sharon’s social investments are credited with impacting thousands of lives in Calgary and the surrounding area.

“Bill and I like to think of ourselves as well-informed about the issues in our community," Sharon says. "But the truth is, we live in our own little bubble, our networks are made up of people like us. We can’t ever completely understand unless we look to an organization like United Way to show us the way.”

Through their lifetime commitment to transformational gifts, they have now given $10 million to United Way, officially becoming the first Canadians ever to join United Way's Ten Million Dollar Roundtable. This small group of philanthropists from around the world have all commited more than $10 million to United Way.

Thank you to the Siebens for their long-time commitment to their community!
