The community we live in impacts the kind of opportunities we have in life. In some Calgary neighbourhoods, one in three residents live in poverty. This is significantly higher than the city’s overall poverty rate of one in 10. Many people in these communities don’t know what supports and services are available, or how to access them.
To address these problems, United Way launched the Community Hubs initiative in partnership with The City of Calgary and Rotary Clubs of Calgary in 2017.
We would like to thank all of the generous individuals who have supported the Community Hubs initiative. Special thanks to philanthropists Mike and Sue Rose for their early investment in the project.
The following individual donors have given $100,000 or more to the initiative:
- Kanovsky Family Foundation
- Mike and Sue Rose
- Bill and Sharon Siebens
Special thanks to our Innovator’s Circle members:
- ENMAX Corporation
- Pembina Pipeline Corporation
- Shell Canada Limited
The Community Hubs initiative is making an incredible impact and has engaged over 31,170 Calgarians since its implementation in 2017. To share some of their incredible accomplishments over the past year, the Community Hubs initiative recently released a new video. Featuring scenes from all seven Community Hub sites, the video tells the remarkable story of Community Hubs, and the incredible impact this initiative is having on neighbourhoods across our city.
The Community Hubs initiative focuses on building strong communities and connecting Calgarians.
